Family, Soccer, Birthdays, Etc...

OK... big weekend - Deb and Sara both flew in and Kirk and Luci and the boys also came up. Kirk left us Saturday morning to go to the BYU-Oklahoma football game (way to go Cougs!!), while us girls and J-man went to the World Cup qualifying game at Rio Tinto Stadium - the US men's soccer team vs. El Salvador - it was AWESOME!!!
J-man with aunt Deb - he now has a new nickname - LoveBug (I'm sure he'll love that one later!)
LoveBug with aunties Deb and Sara
So close to the action... so AWESOME (in case you couldn't guess, I had a great time...)
Luci, grumpy LoveBug, me, Sara and Deb
Kind of a blurry picture of Z-boy, who was saying "Cheese" for this picture. Z-boy also has a new nickname - 40%, a reference to the 40% of 18 month olds who are bigger than him according to his doctor at his 18 month checkup... that's pretty hard to believe...

On Sunday we had all of our Robinson aunts and cousins Carolyn, April and April's kids over.
who knew Mr. Potato Head was so cool?
Kirk and Deb with Carol and Doris
The four Aunties - Doris, Alice, Carol and Marge
And the four siblings... Kirk was a good sport to put up with all the estrogen!
LoveBug showing us how to get down!
And Happy Birthday Kirk... count all 32 candles on that cake!! Highly recommend Maggie Moo's ice cream cakes - this one was de-lish-us!
Kirk, Sara and Deb checking out Sara's matches... signed up yet Deb?!! Yeah, me neither...

Monday we went to SugarHouse park for a picnic and playground time - can I just say that I LOVE the fall - we had just absolutely gorgeous weather this weekend, but the nights are cool enough to sleep... LOVE it LOVE it LOVE it...
Brotherly love??
LoveBug decided that we should go miniature golfing - so we went to the place we had gone over Easter weekend, and well... that obviously didn't work out so well for us!!
Finally made it to a very busy course and hey!! LoveBug - the ball is going the wrong way!!

The only draw back to the weekend?? the flooded basement... love the big old trees that line the streets of my neighborhood, but not looking forward to paying for a new sewer line... eek. Thanks for coming everyone - it was a FANTASTIC weekend!

A Little of This, A Little of That...

Wow - summer gets crazy... I always think that summer is suppose to be this mellow, hang out, have fun time, but it never turns out that way. For example - last week alone included 3 softball games (gotta make up those rain outs!), 2 early morning runs of about 3 miles, a weekend volleyball tournament (where we played 9 matches... in a day and a half!), about 45 hours of work (and I took Friday off!), and many hours spent doing church stuff. I pretty much was only at home to sleep. Excuses, excuses, excuses - Any who... a few "treasures" from the past few weeks...

Where's Z-boy?

Right there... it cracks me up how easily little kids are entertained and the most unlikely object becomes the best toy ever!

Salsa's new boyfriend:
Mom, Uncle Gus and my cousin Shawn stopped to spend the night on their way out to California. Salsa really liked Shawn and licked whatever exposed skin she could find - poor guy!

And finally... the bronze medal winning team from the lower bracket at the Utah Summer games (where the 9 volleyball matches happened). So much fun... took so much time to recover!! From left to right - Emily, Anna, Paige, Jen, me and Julie. Sorry for my arm in your chest Julie... but apparently I had to show off that sexy farmer's tan - lookin' good, huh?!

And this picture makes me think of one more thing. I usually run 3 mornings a week with my running buddy Rena. There's only one shower at work, so we take turns going first depending what's on the schedule. Today was just one of those days - I spent the whole day in my running clothes and hair in a pony tail, bangs pulled back (I hate having hair flop in my eyes when doing sweaty things) - no shower (and I bet I smelled sweeeeet). One of my co-workers came up to me and says Rosann, you look different today. I apologized for my lack of shower fresh scent and he said, no it's not that, so I said I just have my bangs pulled back and he tells me "That's it! You're aerodynamic". Oh yeah... that's it... I'm aerodynamic... just like The Flash... or something...

2009 Bolder Boulder

Yet another one of those off the wall Robinson traditions - the annual running of the Bolder Boulder on Memorial Day. This year there were only 4 Robinson participants in the over 55000 runners: Papasan, Luci, Kirk and me:

One of the "perks" of the BB is the photography company that takes pictures along the course:
Not going to be purchasing any pictures with me in it - ugh!!

My goal when I started was to finish in 70 to 75 minutes - one day I'd LOVE to finish in under an hour (I'd be thrilled with 59:59!), but I knew that wasn't going to be this year, and I wanted to take pictures along the course for people who haven't experienced the BB to get a feel of what it's like - unlike any other race I've done or heard about. Well, it's funny how goals can change - I was going OK the first two miles or so and then BAM!! Extreme intestinal discomfort - Holy Gut Bomb Robin!! My goal then was just to finish, hopefully only really sweaty. And I managed that and to get a time of 69:32 - totally got my finish time, gut bomb and all, although I was the slowest Robinson - not a surprise there. As for the pictures, well, I stole some from the Daily Camera website (a Boulder newspaper I think). Enjoy!!

One of two bell dancing groups - Kirk made it on TV one year when he stopped to dance with the belly dancing grandmas... not sure if that's something you really want to see!

There are costumes galore - Santas, gorillas, cows, brides and grooms (this year I heard that there was a bride and her 4 bridesmaids that ran in their dresses), nuns, bananas, etc. I can't even imagine - I was dying in shorts and a t-shirts!!

The course winds through many neighborhoods, the residents participate and provide relief in their own ways -

I love watching the different groups run into the stadium - this year there was a group of "lost girls" from Sudan and of course the ROTC - are you kidding - 6.2 miles and then push-ups??!

And the real reason for Memorial Day - to remember those who have and those who continue to serve and preserve our freedoms - many, many thanks

Race for the Cure

We did it!! I ran an entire 5K for the first time (and with a decent time - about 37 minutes!)... part one of goal - DONE!! Now to recover and build up to a 10K!!

At the finish line with my running buddy Rena!! Go us!!

Proud of ... well, me!

My usual pathetic Friday night - crashed at home in front of the boob tube and on-line. And during my surfing I went to the women's basketball page at Fort Lewis (my alma mater) and wow!! I'm still in the top 20 in scoring, steals, free throws, rebounding and assists! It may be dumb, but I'm proud of that - my memories of college are: classes, basketball practice, homework, sleep... and repeat. It was really hard and exhausting, but I don't regret a single minute of it! Check me out:

College Football... GO COUGARS!!

Ahhh... it's that time of year again... college football means that fall is on it's way, college basketball is on it way, and that life is good... This year in addition to my season tickets to Ballet West and Pioneer Theater Company, I have season BYU football tickets with my brother Kirk (what can I say? I'm a girl with a wide range of interests!)
I'd forgotten how much fun it is to go to BYU games - I'm amazed at how a loud crowd of over 64,000 can go silent at the drop of a pin for a prayer, I love that you can hear the crowd singing the national anthem (and that crazy fight song that I just can't see to master, although not being an alum is a valid excuse in my book), I love that I can yell and scream ("GET HIM" seems to come out a lot - pretty technical, huh?!) and no one can hear me, I appreciate not getting doused in beer or hearing potty-mouths, I'm amazed at the talents and abilities of the athletes, and this year - I love that I get to hang out with my brother. And this last picture just cracks me up - I had a Julia Roberts moment - replacing divets?? On a football field?? As long as I don't have to show up in a dress... or hose and heels... or a fancy hat...

Memorial Day & the Bolder Boulder

One of my family's traditions is running in the Bolder Boulder, a 10K road race, on Memorial Day. This year was my 3rd finish, despite no training (good intentions, just no time this year). This race is unlike any other - along the course there's all kinds of bands that play (I hi-fived Elvis!), belly dancers of all ages, slip and slides in yards, runners in all kinds of costumes, and just about everything else you can think of, not to mention the over 54,000 runners this year.
Within the first mile, running with my sister-in-law Ariane... notice the smile

And at the finish line... notice the lack of smile!!

I averaged 12min21sec miles, for a finish time of 1hr16minutes - in 30,030th place!

Long Time No Posts - part 3 ...

And Finally.... I lose yet again in the annual Robinson version of March Madness. Honestly, you'd think that one of these years I might just get lucky. By the time it got to the Final Four this year, I didn't even have a chance... here's to redemption - hopefully next year!!

I LOVE March Madness

OK, so I have to admit that March is one my favorite times of the year... I LOVE watching all the great basketball games. Everyone else in the neighborhood has St. Patrick's Day or Easter stuff on their front doors - I have basketballs and gym shoes on my front door. In fact I love March Madness so much that I'm taking off the Thursday and Friday of the first round, so I can get my fill. And anyone who knows my family knows that we always have a group on ESPN... I never do very well, but it's fun!!
